“EASTER – OSTARA = Ostara (Wicca),  the Neopagan and Wiccan festival celebrated around spring equinox…

EASTER – the Old High German for “Easter“, cognate to Anglo-Saxon Ēostre The following is from Wikapedia, “…Jacob Grimm cites comparative evidence to reconstruct a potential continental Germanic goddess whose name would have been preserved in the Old High German name of Easter, *Ostara. Addressing skepticism towards goddesses mentioned by Bede, Grimm comments that “there is nothing improbable in them, nay the first of them is justified by clear traces in the vocabularies of Germanic tribes.”[5] Specifically regarding Ēostre, Grimm continues that:

We Germans to this day call April ostermonat, and ôstarmânoth is found as early as Eginhart (temp. Car. Mag.). The great Christian festival, which usually falls in April or the end of March, bears in the oldest of OHG remains the name ôstarâ … it is mostly found in the plural, because two days … were kept at Easter. This Ostarâ, like the [Anglo-Saxon] Eástre, must in heathen religion have denoted a higher being, whose worship was so firmly rooted, that the Christian teachers tolerated the name, and applied it to one of their own grandest anniversaries.[6]  …Ostara, Eástre seems therefore to have been the divinity of the radiant dawn, of upspringing light, a spectacle that brings joy and blessing, whose meaning could be easily adapted by the resurrection-day of the Christian’s God. Bonfires were lighted at Easter and according to popular belief of long-standing, the moment the sun rises on Easter Sunday morning, he gives three joyful leaps, he dances for joy … Water drawn on the Easter morning is, like that at Christmas, holy and healing … here also heathen notions seems to have grafted themselves on great Christian festivals. Maidens clothed in white, who at Easter, at the season of returning spring, show themselves in clefts of the rock and on mountains, are suggestive of the ancient goddess.[8] ” See link…  -> < Autobiographical comment, my mother deep in to English Romanticism always went through the holiday decorations and traditions as not only a sign of the year’s seasonal changes, but marker of our ages and the trek through life. No, never does this Blogger regret the happy times, even the sugar high from the Easter Basket, left by the Easter Bunny on its nocturnal hippity hop. My mother saw the changes in society, and I am sure that she hurt to see none of the old traditions followed by her children. Point to note, many religious people scorn and reject the Easter traditions as “pagan” and anti-Christian, not knowing or caring that nearly all religions are not original creations, but are combinations of old folkways and misinterpretation of natural phenomena. MAGICAL spells, incantations and ceremonies is the origin of many religious rites and pageantry. EASTER PARADE falls into that category. From Wikipedia, Queen and her Drone…”The drones have two reproductive functions. They convert and extend the queen’s single unfertilized egg into about 10 million genetically identical male sperm cells. Secondly, they serve as a vehicle to mate with a new queen to fertilize her eggs.”  -> < Oh, please, no way is this Blogger inferring or implying that religious ceremonies are not beautiful traditions, they are full of spiritual meaning. EQUATION in “Ritual Magic,” for spells, rituals and ceremonies goes like this, “Desire + Intention  =  Manifestation.”  See link…Symbol, and Sigils (…”.Ellis, also known as the linking sigil (/ˈsɪəl/; pl. sigilia or sigils; from Latin sigillum “seal”) is a symbol used in magic, more specifically chaos magic, to link locations, people and rituals into the ellis ‘web’. Ellis, over the course of time, has also been said to have evolved into a thoughtform.”…  Relax; calm.
